My wife & I trekked back to New Orleans so family could see our 2 month new infant (as well as to take care of hurricane repairs and enjoy Mardi Gras). While down there, I was able to have the main roof to our home replaced. Also, I met with a variety of construction contractors for other repairs but much still needs to be done.
Driving back to Memphis from New Orleans, we realized that the logistics of managing home repairs from Memphis were proving virtually impossible. To speed the repair process, we're returning to New Orleans to complete the repairs and put the hurricane behind us once and for all.
Despite deep ties and an abiding love for the Big Easy, the future and direction of our beloved New Orleans remains uncertain. We find ourselves questioning the logic of raising a family in a place that risks inundation & destruction annually. No place is completely safe; yet, there are other factors to consider. Even if New Orleans is rebuilt, the process will take several years. Also, the jury's still out whether the nation is willing to take the financial steps needed to rebuild the region.
Thanks to all of you for your support and prayers during this difficult point in our lives.
All my best,
Larry Lagarde
